Halloween Day

Today was a very eventful day for our family.  It started out with Hans having a little parade and dance at his school.  Paul, Liesl, Gabi and I went to go and see him and the girls loved it because they could dress up as well.

After the fun we picked up Hans from school and went straight to Lito and Lita's house to celebrate Halloween with them.  We had a wonderful dinner and the kids got to play outside for a while.  Then we went trick or treating and got a lot of candy.  Mommy was very happy because there was a lot of chocolate.

Halloween fun

Today was a fun Saturday for our family.  The kids went to the church to practice for the primary program so that gave us time to spend some time with Gabi.  After the kids came back we got ready to go to the Fresh Market grocery store where they had some fun things for the kids.  Hans, Liesl and Gabi got dressed up in the Halloween costumes and we went to trick or treat at the store.  They also were able to get some pumpkins and decorate them.  After we had done the grocery activity, we came home and carved our home grown pumpkins.  That was a fun experience, although the kids were not helping gut the pumpkins because they were not liking the feeling of the insides.  So Paul and I did most of that.  We had the kids draw out the faces they wanted on the pumpkins and Paul carved them out.  They turned out great and we are so proud of them.  Gabi had fallen asleep so she was not able to participate, but maybe next year.

Our First Snow of the Year

This morning mother nature really caught me by surprise.  I guess I should watch the weather more often.  We were all getting ready to take Hans to school and did our normal routine, when we all looked out the window and saw that is was snowing hard.  Lets just say that I have never scrambled so much to find appropriate clothing for my children to walk out the door.  I was not ready for the snow, so therefore didn't have the gloves, socks, hats and jackets out.  It was definitely a fun morning trying to get out the door.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today was my mothers birthday and we had so much fun.  We went over to her house where Danielle my sister in law and my nephew where there, and we had a wonderful lunch with them.  After we played a game that required answering questions about my mother.  After that the kids spent time playing with their Lita.  The last thing we did was cut the cake and eat it.  I sure do love birthday!

My first pie of the season

Today was a great day for me.  I baked my first pie of the season.  That may not sound like something important to most people but to me, when I bake my first pie it signifies the beginning of all the fun holidays to come.  I love this time of year because the pies, the candle and the hot chocolate come out.  Not to mention that I love pumpkin pie, so whenever I can make it I do.

No need for a play set

I have come to the conclusion that there is no need to pay for an expensive play set for outside when you have creative kids and trampoline metal.  My kids wanted to play outside for a little bit after school today and when I went out there, they had made this fun jungle gym out of the scraps from our old trampoline.  I was impressed that they had come up with this plan and very grateful that they could work together to entertain themselves.

Let the Halloween month begin

Today was a fun day for us.  All day the kids were waiting for after family home evening so that we could start decorating the house for Halloween.  The kids loved putting up the spider web at the corner of our house that we always do and added some fun little spiders, goblins and skeletons to it.  We also picked the pumpkins that we had grown from seed in our yard to finish off the decorations.  The kids were proud of their creativity and I was proud that we had grown pumpkins to use for this month.
