Merry Christmas!
Christmas was spent at the hospital for Ky and I. I was so sad that I was not able to watch the kids in the morning when they found the gifts that Santa had left them, or watch them open the gifts from family and us, but I was so grateful for the Christmas gift that we were given. Ky was unexpected, but we are so grateful that he is here and that we can start the new year as a family of 6. That morning, Paul did Christmas with the kids and then they came to the hospital to spend it with me and Ky. It was the sweetest thing, they brought my stocking from Santa and some gifts that I could open. They pretty much spent all day there with me, the kids were getting stir crazy, but it was fun to have them there.

An unexpected surprise ;)
Today was going to be a normal day in the Otte home getting ready for Santa to come to our house, when my water broke. Yes you heard me right, my water broke. After all that it really was a blur, but this is how it went. My water broke, Paul and I both frantic and trying to get everyone dressed and ready to go spend the day with my sister and her family, and my parents. Got to the hospital where they hooked me up to IV's and gave me patossin (i do not know how to spell it) to start the contractions. Luckily the anesthesiologist was close by so I got the epidural immediately. From that time on it was a wait for this baby to come out. The longest I have waited was 6 hours for my babies, so when we were going over the 6 hours I couldn't believe that this baby was not here yet. Especially with the Pitocin. After a little bit the nurse realized that all of my water had not broken so that was not allowing the baby to come, so they broke the rest and within 30 min the baby was coming. Unfortunately the epidural had worn off just enough for me to feel the baby, but it went fast.
Ky Dietrick Otte was born on December 24th, 2012- 6 pds 15 ounces and 19 inches long. He was 3 weeks early but that is OK, because that was the best Christmas gift we could have ever gotten. After I delivered him he had to go and get put on oxygen because his little lungs were not functioning properly. I am so glad that I was other wise detained, because I don't know if I could have been o.k. with him on oxygen. He spent most of the day and night under supervision with the nurses, so I got a lot of rest while at the hospital.

Gabi and her first major owie
Today was a very eventful day in our family. We all went to church together, but I was really grouchy and not feeling so well. I just wanted to go home and sleep because I was so pregnant and not deal with anyone. Paul went to work and I took the kids home after church. Everything was going normal for the night until I hear Hans say Gabi fell. I walked into the room they were all sleeping in and there she was standing up crying, with blood gushing down her face. It was just like a horror movie. I started to panic because I didn't know what to do and I was worried that her head was cracked. After cleaning it, it was a small gash and she was fine after a while. I know though she will wake up tomorrow morning with a headache. Ah the joys of motherhood. :)

Sunday fun
Today after church I had promised the kids we would do some snowflakes
out of paper to decorate the house for Christmas. It was so much fun
having them make a snowflake and then decorate it with markers and
glitter. Of course the glitter was a big hit, Gabi was not interested in making the snowflakes or decorating, she just wanted to play with glitter and even Paul and I got
really into it. I think Paul could quit his job and become a
professional snowflake maker. He created some
awesome masterpieces.

Thank goodness for good food!
Today was an good day for me and my family. We went down to Salem, UT and made tamales with my parents. It was so much fun, because we have my sister and her family, my sister in law and her family, my niece and her family all making these delicious tamales to take home. It was fun to just get together and catch up and talk. Not only do we learn how to make them, we get to take them home for later and we get to eat some there. After all that fun, the kids and Paul and I and stayed for dinner and had fun just relaxing with Lito and Lita. I love this time of year because it gives us an opportunity to spend relaxing time with family.
